African Born is an ongoing project where people are invited to explore their sense of belonging within South Africa through music, drama, visual arts, and multiple language settings inspired or set to the poem, African Born (C. Ontong).

My skin dark night sky
Eyes stars
Illuminating life
I play amongst Jupiter’s rings
World at my fingers
Metal rivers at my feet

Hair grows tall to greet the sun
